Year 5 Basketball Festival at Sir William Borlase

21 May, 2010

Sir William Borlase Family - Year 5 Basketball Festival – Friday 21st May 2010

One of the hottest days of the year so far, the Sir William Borlase Family Year 5 Basket ball festival took place last Friday, 21st May the whole of the morning, rescheduled from March due to poor weather.

There were Teams competing from West Wycombe School , and three Marlow Schools - St Peters RC , Holy Trinity C of E , and Danesfield School. Each School provided three teams of a maximum of 10 players.

The Festival began - each team played six games of 10 minutes across three rounds on four basketball courts with most teams changing court at the end of each round. Some seeding took place during the competition.

It was a really hot morning, Coach Jenner commented that "......of all the year 5 festivals I have had the pleasure to organise, this was most definitely the highest standard. All teams have worked hard in their 5 school based training sessions and a number of the players have been regular attendees at the after school club that I run on Wednesdays at Great Marlow School and they along with others demonstrated excellent skills throughout the morning. The day was also expertly officiated by sportsleaders from Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School. “

All participants should be proud of their endeavours on the day. The Four awards were: Fair Play –West Wycombe School – Team 2. The Main competition, 1st place went to - Holy Trinity Team 2,

2nd place - St Peters Team 2 and 3rd place - Holy Trinity Team 1. Congratulations to all who participated and thank you to all the teachers and teaching assistants who helped on the day.

The Partnership also funds Coach Jenner’s Basketball Club which is a community club (open to all) which is based at Great Marlow School on Wednesdays 5pm- 6pm.
