Great Marlow Family - Year 3/4 Tennis Festival – Friday 21st May 2010

21 May, 2010

On one of the hottest days of the year so far, the Great Marlow Family Year 3/4 Tennis festival took place on Friday, 21st May afternoon.

There were 5 Teams competing from Burford School’s year 3 and 4. The Festival began with 5 teams of 4, 2 girls and 2 boys in each team. There were 5 courts specially set up at Great Marlow School, and each pupil played each other totaling 40 games in all!

There were ten Sports Leaders from Great Marlow School who were “invaluable – truly they did a great job” says Steve Goodright, SSCo. The Coach from WIN Tennis at Bisham Abbey was really impressed. Festivals like this are a perfect platform for talent identification in tennis.

All participants should be proud of their endeavours on the day. The winning team was Ben Smith, Finn McIndoe, Chaira Hodgeson and Emily Hutt.

The Wycombe District Final is on Tuesday 15th June from 4p – 6pm at Bucks Indoor Tennis centre and the team representing the Great Marlow Family from Burford School is Finn McIndoe, Piers Theodore (who won best boy at this festival ), Sakina Lakda (who won best girl at this festival) and Georgia Keys.

Congratulations to all who participated and thank you to all the teachers and teaching assistants who helped on the day.

Good luck from us all to the team for the District Finals!
